Hire a Crew

The harvest waits for no one. Neither do we.

Maan Contracting is a farm labour hire company supplying experienced, supervised crews for fruit picking, thinning, pruning and packing to growers across Victoria — for the length of the season.

Picking Thinning Pruning Packing

Farm labour hire, Victoria

Labour is the hardest part of growing. We make it the easiest.

A short crop window, a long block, and never quite enough hands — every grower knows the arithmetic. Maan Contracting exists to change it.

We build and supervise our own farm crews, move them with the season across Victoria, and stand behind every hour worked: award rates, proper records, and one person accountable to you from first row to last bin.

What we do

Four jobs. Done properly, at pace.

Fruit Picking

November through April

Fast, careful harvest crews for stone fruit, apples, pears, cherries and grapes. Colour and size selection to your specification, fruit handled gently, tallies reported daily.

Thinning

Spring and early summer

Hand thinning that protects next year's wood while lifting this year's fruit size. Crews are trained to your spacing and crop-load targets before they touch a tree.

Pruning

Winter structural, summer touch-up

Experienced pruners for orchards and vineyards — vase, central leader, tall spindle, cordon and cane. Clean cuts and a consistent style down the whole row.

Packing

Shed and field, all season

Graders, sorters and packers who keep the line moving and reject rates down. Field-packing crews available for direct-to-box harvest programs.

The Maan standard

What growers can hold us to.

Supervised, always

A working crew leader on every job, responsible for pace, quality and safety — not a phone number in another town.

Compliant by design

Award-rate pay, superannuation and proper records for every worker — protecting our people and the growers who host them.

Scales with the crop

Five hands for a thinning pass or a full harvest crew at peak — the team flexes as your fruit comes on.

On time, together

Crews travel in their own transport and arrive as one — with tools, ready to start when the dew lifts.

Getting started

From first call to crew on site.

Step one

Tell us about the job

Crop, block size, start date, and how you'd like to run it — hourly or piece rate. A five-minute call is enough to scope most jobs.

Step two

We build the crew

We match crew size and experience to your crop, confirm rates and paperwork in writing, and lock the start date in.

Step three

Work starts on time

The crew arrives together with a supervisor and tools. You get daily tallies and one point of contact for the whole job.

Common questions

Questions growers ask us.

How quickly can you supply a farm crew?
During harvest we can often have a crew on site within days, depending on the district and the week. Peak windows — February harvest and winter pruning — are booked months ahead, so the earlier you lock in dates, the better the availability.
Do you charge hourly or piece rates?
Both. Some jobs suit an hourly arrangement, others run best on piece rates — we'll recommend an approach based on your crop and confirm everything in writing before the crew starts.
Which areas of Victoria do you cover?
All of Victoria's growing regions, including the Goulburn Valley, Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland, Sunraysia, Swan Hill, Werribee South and Bacchus Marsh. If your district isn't listed, call us — our crews travel.
Who supervises the workers on my farm?
Every crew includes a working supervisor who is on the tools alongside the team and responsible for pace, quality and safety. You brief one person, and that person is accountable for the whole crew.
Are your workers employed properly?
Yes. Our workers are paid award rates with superannuation, payslips and proper records — protecting our people and the growers who host them.
What crops do your crews have experience with?
Apples, pears, cherries, stone fruit, table and wine grapes, citrus, berries and field vegetables — across picking, thinning, pruning and packing.
